Major findings from the study report

● 62.1% of students said that they are facing difficulties in their current curriculum because they aren’t able to link it with their previous year’s curriculum
● The report revealed that Chhattisgarh government has no LRP program in place, which will force children to be at the periphery of education. Therefore, it will be tough for the students to recover from the learning losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
● The fact-finding Report revealed that 27.52%(101) of schools are short of 1 teacher compared to the number of sanctioned posts in their school. The lack of adequate school teachers enormously affects education in Chhattisgarh. Similarly, 25.88%(95), 19.07%(70), & 7.90%(29) of schools are short of 2,3 and 4 teachers, respectively.
● The fact-finding report disclosed that 14.71%(54) of schools don’t have separate toilets for boys and girls In almost all the offices and institutions, we can find separate toilets for males and females then, why it is not there in schools even after 13 years of the implementation of the RTE, and this is the primary need for the students?
● The fact-finding report also explored the fact that 24. 52%(90) of toilets in schools are lacking water facilities. As per the statement given by parents, there is no use of toilets without proper water facilities.
● The fact-finding report discovers that 12.26%(45) of schools don’t have playgrounds. Playground serves a vital role in the physical and mental health of students. SMC members and parents are seriously concerned about the lack of playgrounds.
● The fact-finding report revealed that out of the 101 dropout cases, 32.67% belong to ST, whereas 26.73%, 38.61% & 1.98% are from SC, OBC, and General categories, respectively. The significant reasons for dropout found from the fact-finding are 32.67% said because they are engaged in household work. 7.92%, 14.85%, 7.92%, & 36.63% have told their dropout reasons as because of difficulties in the curriculum, other logic, parents aren’t interested, engaged in labor work, & either parent has migrated or not interested respectively.
● The fact-finding revealed that 77.22% of students had no opportunity to read, nor was there any scope for them to engage in reading activities because of different issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
● Current engagement of the migrant students-57.29% have said they are helping their parents in the household work.

Hartek Foundation extends free health check-ups for women in village Raipur https://indiaeducationdiary.in/hartek-foundation-extends-free-health-check-ups-for-women-in-village-raipur/ https://indiaeducationdiary.in/hartek-foundation-extends-free-health-check-ups-for-women-in-village-raipur/#respond Sat, 03 Sep 2022 05:19:49 +0000 https://indiaeducationdiary.in/?p=308661

Hartek Foundation, the not-for-profit NGO of Hartek Group organised a Health Awareness Camp for women residents hailing from Raipur village in SAS Nagar, Mohali. The health-focused campaign was held in association with doctors of Healing Hospital, Chandigarh.

As per the government data, 1 in 9 women in SAS Nagar were at the health danger zone against cancer. Under the shadow of ill-knowledge, the possibilities of developing breast, ovary, liver and thyroid cancer were highest among women.

Since its inception, the Hartek Foundation has taken a strong step to boost the general public’s knowledge about plaguing health issues and educate them about prioritising health over other social or economic concerns.

With the cooperation of Hartek Foundation volunteers, the doctors conducted basic health check-ups such as BMI, Sugar, and BP tests which saw the active participation of over 50 women. A special Counselling on menstrual hygiene, one of the most fundamental aspects of women’s cleanliness and well-being, also took place following the health check-ups. Participants were also coached to practice body awareness, notice changes in their internal functioning, and adopt a healthier and happier lifestyle.

As a part of the initiative to educate women on the importance of menstrual hygiene, over four dozens of Sanitary Napkins were given to health camp attendees. Women also received Calcium Tablets and refreshments from the authorities.

Hartek Foundation has legally adopted Raipur village and is making concerted efforts to transform it into a ‘Smart Model Village’. The organisation has been uplifting the health standards of the village by organising continuous health check-ups and spreading awareness regarding various active health hazards.

Echoing her sentiments, Keerti Hartek Singh, Founder & Chairperson of HARTEK FOUNDATION who also interacted with the villagers at the camp said, “The health awareness campaign was to develop a consciousness about health and well-being among women, moreover, about menstrual hygiene. Village women have lesser to no knowledge about this. The idea of our campaign is to enlighten women about various aspects of bodily fitness and encourage them to make efforts regarding the same to avoid any health risk in future. I must say, women were patient and inquisitive enough to gain knowledge about it and were cooperating very well. They were earnest and learnt several things which should be known and extended their gratitude towards the much required programme.”

Cabinet approves relaxation in educational qualification for the post of Constable to recruit native tribal youth as Constables in CRPF through recruitment rally from the interior areas of Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh State https://indiaeducationdiary.in/cabinet-approves-relaxation-in-educational-qualification-for-the-post-of-constable-to-recruit-native-tribal-youth-as-constables-in-crpf-through-recruitment-rally-from-the-interior-areas-of-bijapur-da/ Wed, 01 Jun 2022 14:18:27 +0000 https://indiaeducationdiary.in/?p=276255 New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to relax requisite minimum educational qualification from 10th class pass to 8th Class for the recruitment of 400 candidates as Constable (General Duty) in CRPF from 03 districts of South Chattisgarh namely Bijapur, […]]]>

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to relax requisite minimum educational qualification from 10th class pass to 8th Class for the recruitment of 400 candidates as Constable (General Duty) in CRPF from 03 districts of South Chattisgarh namely Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma.

Apart from issuing advertisement in local newspapers and adopting all means for wider publicity of this rally in these interior areas of these three districts, CRPF would subsequently impart formal education during the probation period to these newly recruited trainees.

400 tribal youths from interior areas of three districts namely Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma of Chhattisgarh State will get employment opportunities. Appropriate relaxation in physical standards for recruitment will also be given by Ministry of Home Affairs.

CRPF is one of Central Armed Police Forces, basically meant for duties like maintenance of law and order, tackling Counter Insurgency and maintaining Internal Security. In the instant case, CRPF proposes to recruit 400 native tribal youths as Constables (General Duty), from the relatively backward areas of Chhattisgarh. They will be confirmed in service only after acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification of standard 10th pass, thus formal education will be given to these recruits and CRPF would extend all possible support like providing study material, books and coaching assistance during their probation period The probation period may be extended suitably, if required, to facilitate new recruits to acquire the prescribed education qualification. In order to facilitate them to take the 10th standard exam, these recruits will be registered with National Institute of Open Schools recognized by Central/State Govts.

CRPF during 2016-2017 had raised one Bastariya Battalion by recruiting Scheduled Tribe candidates from four districts namely, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma of Chhattisgarh. However, it could not yield optimum results as native youths from interior areas could not compete in the recruitment process due to non- fulfilling of requisite educational qualification i.e. 10th pass.
