IIM Tiruchirappalli celebrates its 11th Convocation

Tiruchirappalli: The eleventh annual convocation of the students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), Post-Graduate Program in Human Resources (PGPM HR), Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM), and Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) at IIM Tiruchirappalli was conducted successfully on 5th April 2023. Mr. Jalaj Dani, the Chairman – Board of Governors, IIM Tiruchirappalli, presided over the ceremony. Ms. Soma Mondal, Chairman – Steel Authority of India Ltd., was the Chief Guest.

 

Highlights

 

The chief guest, Ms. Soma Mondal, congratulated the founders, faculty, students, and their families for the successful graduation of another cohort of students. She advised the students to remain proud of their roots as it makes the future path easier. She guided the students with tips to help them embark on a successful professional journey. She urged them to hone their skills, reskill themselves according to the need of the hour, and work on their weaknesses. She said that the bonds made during these years are everlasting and urged the students to cherish them.

 

Director, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, welcomed the chief guest, faculty, staff, board members, students, parents, alumni, and members of the media. He congratulated the graduates and their families for reaching this milestone. He presented the report for the academic year 2022-23. He informed about the students’ achievements in the fields of sports, corporate and B-School competitions such as Vantage VOIS 2022 where students emerged as national winners, Publicise Sapient, GSK ECube where students emerged as national finalists, national case competition by Avalon Consulting where students emerged as national semi-finalists, HSBC IB League, Reliance TUP where students emerged as national runner up, IDFC FAME, Titan Elevate, Sangram. He also highlighted the importance of social responsibility. He mentioned about the projects undertaken by the students under the Make A Difference programme such as emphasizing transgender upskilling, and supporting and educating locals. He highlighted the efforts of Elixir- the Social Responsibility Club of IIM Tiruchirappalli, for fundraising and installing solar panels in Chinna Sooriyur Village. He mentioned the addition of nine foreign universities as partners for the student exchange programme. He listed achievements such as AMBA accreditation of the institute, the first edition of Daksha 2022- Leadership Conclave, Applause- Alumni get-together, Dhruva during the past academic year. He also shared the placement report for the academic year 2021-23.

 

Mr. Jalaj Dani, the Chairman – Board of Governors, IIM Tiruchirappalli, congratulated the graduating students. He welcomed the new members of the board of governors and thanked the outgoing members of the board. He thanked the Government for granting autonomy to IIMs. He emphasized on the power of resilience, and individual and collective power as the key ingredients for making positive change. He stressed upon sustainability goals and the need to anticipate, prevent and mitigate risk.
